The File menu contains the items New article and Open file.... You may now either begin creating an HTML file from scratch, by selecting New article, or start editing an existing HTML file, by selecting the Open file... option. Selecting New article will copy a template into the editor window, while selecting Open file... allows you to specify an HTML file to load. Note that all HTML tags displayed in the editor window are wrapped to upper case, in preparation for editing.
Now you are ready to begin editing. You may either edit the HTML directly, via the main editor window, or you may use the various options under the Set menu item. Dialog windows invoked via the Set menu include, where appropriate, controls for tabbing to the next item of that type (e.g., from one list item to the next), as well as displaying and setting font changes within the item. Text font is changed by first opening the dialog window for the item type to be edited, creating the text, then selecting the words or phrases whose font is to be changed, followed by selecting from the Set font menu in the dialog. You do not need to be familiar with HTML in order to use the editor in this manner.
At any point during your editing session, you may back out changes by selecting from the Undo choice item to delete the last change or all changes since the file or template was loaded. You may also preview your changes by pressing the Preview button. Either the current article or an external file may be included in your article, by selecting from one of the Include menu items in the File menu. The edited file is saved via the Save file and Save file as... File menu items. Select Quit to exit the editor.
Note: at the present time, the HTML editor only supports HTML 2.0 markup tags. Also, when creating HTML files for use with WebReader all links and file references must include fully-qualified (not relative) file names.
