Reading articles posted to a newsgroup

To read articles posted to a subscribed newsgroup, do one of the following: At this point you will be in the articles window. All currently unread articles which are not killed via your killfiles will have their headers displayed in the list at the top of the window:

You may scroll up and down in the list, and select any article you find to view it. HTML articles may take longer to display than ASCII articles, especially if graphics are involved. If an ASCII article includes one or more embedded uuencoded or Base 64 encoded images, then when the article is selected the images will be decoded and displayed, so that this operation, likewise, can affect performance. Note that when browsing an HTML-enhanced article, the page title will appear in the WebReader titlebar as WebReader: <page-title>. For ordinary ASCII articles, the titlebar doesn't change.

If you wish, you may choose to display only those articles which belong to a given category, as defined by a category tag which is assigned by the originator at the time the article is posted. To set the category, press the Filter By Category button and select from the list of categories for the newsgroup. Check out Filtering articles by category for more information.

Check out Using the WebReader toolbar for complete information on the various buttons which make up the toolbar.
