Why should you include personal information, such as the city where you live, in a news posting? More and more business professionals, such as doctors and lawyers, want to make their knowledge and experience available online for free, in the hope that by establishing themselves on the Internet, by way of the appropriate newsgroups, they will get new clients from among the Internet community. However, because of the large volume of postings, it is impractical for them to contribute to each and every discussion in which they are professionally competant.
By providing with your posting the city and state you live in, for example, business professionals in your geographic area are more likely to respond to your post. This can result in a win-win situation: you get useful, professional advice for free and the business contributors establish themselves to potential clients and customers.
